Grom Series of Lembongan Surf Team, Finding Talented Young Surfers

Lembongan Surf Team (LST) back to hold surfing competition this year. The event step to 17th session since promoted firstly in 2001. In this year, the contest will be focused on the youth by holding ‘Grom Series’ for first time ever. Chief of LST Committee, Wayan Lena that confirmed this morning said the grom series intended to find out talented young surfers.

“We focusing on the youth to find out young surfers. Our aim is to keep inspiring their dreams and ambitions of becoming championship surfers,” Wayan hoped announced on Wednesday, 7th June 2017.

“The annual Lembongan Surf Team event this year is proudly supported by our local government of Klungkung Regency. We, LST are grateful for their recognitition and support,” He added.

During the contest, there will be 3 divisions contested, push in division, grom U/16 and Pro Junior U/21. Push in division will begin the series on June 24th until 29th 2017 in Mushroom Bay. This point is the most perfect left hander on our island, breaking close to the shoreline and providing an excellent spot. The second event will be held in Nusa Ceningan at Secret Point on July 15th – 19th. It offers peeling left hander and ideal spectators location for watching a day of surfing action. While the final series kick off by August 27th – September 3rd at Playground Point. A beautiful left and right hand peak, that will see these groms  pushing their limits and turn their dream to be true surfers.

LST encourage both local and island visitor to watch and support the event. Overall champion of the series will be honored with an awarded entry into this years Nusa Penida Pro-Am event to be held at Shipwrecks & Lacerations, October 5th – 8th; comprising of 16 international surfers, the top 10 surfers of Indonesia, and our very own top 10 LST open division surfers. Quoted from LST official site, beside the surfing contest, LST also push programs of environmental beach and land clean-ups, mangrove restoration, swimming lessons, training and of maintaining local cultural lifestyle.
